Portfolio development

Instructor: Jessica Libor

Location: The Studio, 123 Leverington Avenue, Studio 306, Philadelphia, PA 19127

Mondays (ongoing) 2 to 4pm

$180 monthly, includes 8 hours of instruction in semi-private studio setting.

Especially geared towards students 9th grade and up, and adult artists who would like to develop a consistent body of work, this weekly guided studio session is for students to develop the skills and cohesive vision necessary to build a consistent body of work. With personal guidance, detailed demonstrations, and time for practice and making art, this ongoing offers everything you need in order to draw and paint with more confidence and skill.

Each student will begin with a free 30 minute consultation and portfolio review (scheduled outside class time) , and an overview of what artistic goals they have. We will discuss strategies and areas of focus in order to achieve these goals. If the student decides to sign on, we will work on these areas through instruction while drawing and painting from life, creating work from photography, homework assignments, reading, and creative exercises.

We will cover (depending on the student’s area of interest) artistic skills such as line, shape, form, value, shading, drawing techniques with pencil, pastel and ink, oil painting, gilding with gold and silver leaf, goal setting and structuring of studio time, development of an artistic style, and writing an artist statement.
