Hunter's Thicket

Hunter's Thicket

$575.00

Part of the Hidden Paths collection inspired by Scotland.

In Scotland during my daily walks, I stood where a particularly strong, moss-covered tree standing among a grove of young saplings, its branches reaching outward over the smaller trees. Beneath it, plum-colored thorn bushes curl around ferns and autumn leaves, and as I painted, I imagined a fox makes its way from behind the tree into the open.

And that is where the question lies,

Are we hunting the fox, or is the fox the hunter?

I wanted the painting to have that little moment of uncertainty, where the viewer can imagine what might happen next.

The tree itself was inspired by the ancient trees I encountered during my residency, where the moss and branches seemed to hold so much character. The forest felt alive with its own magic stories.

The largest work in the collection, this painting is made with handmade iridescent watercolors on heavyweight Arches watercolor paper, measuring 12 × 16 inches.

Unframed, packaged in a clear plastic sleeve and acid free cardboard backing.

Original, one of a kind, hand painted by Jessica Libor, 2026.
