The Dancing Trees

The Dancing Trees
Part of the Hidden Paths collection inspired by Scotland.
One of the things I loved most about walking through the forests during my residency was being in the company of the ancient trees on my daily walks.
The trees had such beautiful shapes, with branches reaching across one another and forming intricate patterns overhead. Ivy climbed along the trunks, and the shadows created delicate shapes across the branches.
This painting is a detailed rendering of the forest trees with shapes that suggested dancing, with interlocking branches, carefully observed ivy, and the shadows that move across the trunks and limbs.
I wanted to capture the way the trees seem to gather together, creating a kind of movement within the landscape.
The painting is made with handmade iridescent watercolors on Acquarello watercolor paper, measuring 6.69 × 9.45 inches.
Unframed, packaged in a clear plastic sleeve and acid free cardboard backing.
Original, one of a kind, hand painted by Jessica Libor, 2026.
